Description Click pic above for more detail SOLD! This is an EXTREMELY hard to find circa 1970 DOXA SUB 300T PROFESSIONAL. This watch is has reached iconic status in America due to the character Dirk Pitt, played by Matthew McConaughey, and his orange DOXA in the movie Sahara. This watch has always been a favourite amongst professional divers in the 70’s, including Jacques Cousteau. This is an original and un-touched example, with the massive 43x14mm. Thick case in its original state and without any major dings or scratches. Up for grabs is a Doxa Sub 300T “Professional” dive wristwatch, produced during the 1970s, fitted with a rare and desirable orange “AquaLung – U.S. Divers Co.” dial. Doxa is a very well-known dive-watch brand, known for many innovations in the field, including the implementation of the Helium Release Valve and the expanding diver’s clasp. DOXA Sub 300T Sharkhunter — Photo courtesy of Analog/Shift DOXA was founded in 1889 and had always produced quality timepieces, but it wasn’t until the 1960’s when they started developing dive watches that put them on the map. The original sapphire crystal and proper unsigned winding (non-screw down) crown are still present. This is version two of the watch and the crown is completely original and correct. The beads of rice German made bracelet with adjustable stretch buckle is also original to the watch and will fit a medium sided wrist. Of course, the bracelet shows stretching as this is a heavy watch. On the wrist it looks fabulous! The original dial shows some usual crazing only on an angle. At one time the luminous may have been upgraded, as is often done during a service. ![]() Hello Fellow eBayers, I'm hoping someone can give me a little direction or information regarding this Doxa diver's watch. I notice that there are several subtle differences between this particular watch and others in this same class. I'm unable to find this exact watch anywhere on the internet. 1) The bezel dial is significantly different; this watch features a dial with Fluo marks which does not appear to be the case on any Sharkhunter of this period. Besm 3rd edition character sheet. The bezel also has red numbers, again, much different than other Sharkhunters. 2) while this is the original rice band, I don't see others marked Doxa 300 on the clamp. Everything else appears to be consistent with other Sub 300T. Watch is in very nice condition, runs, and keeps accurate time. Kind Regards, Jim.
